Very clean and nice 1 bed unit we stayed in. Staff were very accommodating. I had to cancel half way through my stay and they refunded the remainder. I would definitely stay again.

Our room was just right for what we needed. Clean, simple, cosy with friendly people.
The place was very clean wherever you went.
The booking was hassle free and stress free with good communication in between as I was coming from the sunshine coast.
Due to flying we turned up after 9pm. We had NO problems checking in and everything was where it was meant to be.

    Definitely will stay here again.

This is a good budget accommodation. I interacted with reception staff only on check-in, and they were friendly and helpful. The units were neat and clean. The configuration for a two bedroom unit is not very clear on their website. The way they provide a 2 bedroom unit is one entrance with a fully lockable door will have a bedroom and ensuite plus another entrance for the main unit with living room, kitchen (no cooktop), bedroom with ensuite. It would have been good to know this upfront, especially for families with kids.

All rooms are air-conditioned, which was good. Beds are comfortable. Our bedroom fan also only worked on one speed, which was the slowest one. Im glad the air con was fine, at least. Out of the 3x 2 bedroom units we booked, only one had both bedrooms within a single entrance, but then that unit had only one bathroom + toilet to be shared between 4 people staying there. The living area was much larger, though.

I was disappointed to see the management providing a small green patch to be used as a sponge to wash utensils. It wasn't even a sponge, just the rough green patch of the sponge.

Being a beach and a tropical town, it's expected that a basic clothes drying rack is provided. Instead, the swimwear and towels all had to be put on the unit entrance corridor railing, which is uneven and has sharp edges. So once clothes are dry, one has to be careful in taking them out without damaging the clothes. And obviously all clothes are visible to everyone passing by. Just found these basic amenities missing and to me personally a disappointment.

On our last day of checkout, which is at 10 am, I had to stop the housekeeping staff from entering our unit at 9.45am while we were wrapping up all luggage. I found it weird for staff to arrive earlier than checkout time, ready to clean up before keys were returned at the reception.

They provide a common kitchen, which was neat and clean, but being open from all sides was annoying as we found ourselves practising karate moves to manage cooking and keeping large flies away from our food or biting us. All utensils, microwave etc have been provided. The cooktop was electric, and out of four, two were out of order. This was a common kitchen for all residents, and this is peak holiday season. So you can now imagine the wait to cook.

This common area also had a table tennis table which the kids enjoyed and a small library to read. There are 4 massive tables and benches here for people to enjoy their meals or chats.

The location is not too far, and there's ample parking space. The Jubilee tavern and a grocery shop are at walking distance, and the main st is not too far away.

The views are of the rainforest, as the name suggests, and you will be able to see the resident Kipara bird family roaming the grounds.

The retreat also has a laundry room, pool, and BBQ facilities.

I personally would not go back here because it didn't match my expectations on basic amenities that I expect accommodation to provide and maintain their facilities.

This place was a real treat to stay in and benefitted from being just a few kms from the township of Airlie Beach, which meant that any downtime I had was just a bit more peaceful.

The two bedroom villa I stayed in was one of the newer ones and was spacious enough for two people. There were fans and aircon units in all the living spaces. The villa had all the usual white goods (fridge / freezer, kettle, microwave, TV and toaster) as well as crockery, glassware and cutlery for a few people. There was free wifi, but it was a tad patchy at times, hardly a problem though given today's mobile phone data allowances. At night the area was very peaceful, and within a ten minute walk I had access to a tavern for an evening meal, and a convenience store for the little things I might have run out of.

The staff I met were all very friendly and happy to answer any questions I had.

This accommodation really is better than a lot of the reviews make out, especially the older ones; and by the looks of it Kipara has been updating a lot of its rooms to make a stay here more enjoyable, and it seems to be working. My stay here was great.

It was great, exactly what I needed. Clean room, it can use an update though. Friendly staff, beautiful quiet environment and nearby Airlie Beach. Also perfect utilized to prep your meals and do your laundry!
